Privacy Policy
How Strive High Academy handles information about you, your family and your child.
Who we are
Strive High Academy is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 93-3248311, serving children and families in the Charleston area of South Carolina. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Strive High Academy. You can reach us at info@strivehigh.org.
Information you give us
We collect what you choose to send us. That usually means:
- Your name, email address, phone number and whatever you write in a message when you use a form on this site or email one of our addresses.
- Information in a referral or an application, which may include a child’s first name, age, the loss the family has experienced, and how to reach the parent or guardian.
- Business details when you apply as a vendor or a sponsor for Pawsh Ever After.
- Household details you share when applying for the Pet Mission, such as whether anyone has allergies and who will care for the animal.
Information about children
This is the part we take most seriously, so we want to be plain about it.
- We accept information about a child only from an adult: a parent, a guardian, or a referring professional such as a counselor, teacher, pastor or funeral director. This website is not designed for children to submit their own information, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child under 13.
- We use a child’s information for one purpose: to reach the family, understand what the child needs, and offer them a place in our programs.
- We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or use it for advertising or fundraising appeals directed at the child.
- We ask a parent or guardian for written permission before we photograph a child at an event or use a child’s name or image in anything we publish. Permission can be withdrawn at any time.
- A parent or guardian can ask us what we hold about their child, correct it, or have it deleted, by emailing loveliveson@strivehigh.org. We will act on that request promptly and at no cost.
Donations and payment information
Donations and ticket purchases are processed by Stripe, an outside payment company. We never see or store your card number, expiry date or security code. Stripe sends us the information we need to acknowledge and record your gift, which is typically your name, email address, the amount, the date, and for a recurring gift its status. Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy policy and security standards.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site you arrived from. We use analytics tools to understand which pages are useful. This information is not used to identify you personally, and it is not combined with information about a child in our programs.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them to keep the site working and to measure general traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site may not work normally if you do.
How we use information
- To respond to you, and to contact the family named in a referral.
- To run our programs and events, including registrations, tickets and vendor arrangements.
- To record, acknowledge and receipt donations, and to meet our reporting obligations as a nonprofit.
- To send updates to people who asked for them. Every email we send has a way to stop receiving them.
- To keep the site secure and to comply with the law.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not sell donor lists. We share information only with the service providers who help us operate, and only with what they need: our website host, our email provider, our payment processor, and our analytics provider. We may also share information when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that someone is at risk of serious harm.
How long we keep it
We keep program and family records for as long as the family is connected to us and for a reasonable period afterward. We keep donation records for as long as tax and nonprofit reporting rules require. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify a person.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to program records and donor records is limited to people who need it to do their work. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected people promptly if something goes wrong.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to info@strivehigh.org and tell us what you want. For anything involving a child, write to loveliveson@strivehigh.org.
Other websites
This site links to other places, including our payment pages and partner organizations. Once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will say so on the site.
