Donation Policy
What happens to your gift, how to change it, and what you can expect from us.
Tax status
Strive High Academy is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our EIN is 93-3248311. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for a gift unless we state otherwise in writing, for example where a ticket or a sponsorship benefit is included. Please keep your receipt, and speak to your own tax adviser about your situation.
How gifts are processed
Donations are handled by Stripe over an encrypted connection. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your name, your email address, the amount and the date, so that we can thank you and keep proper records.
Receipts
Stripe emails you a receipt as soon as your gift goes through. For a formal acknowledgment letter for your tax records, or a year end summary of your giving, write to donations@strivehigh.org and we will send one.
Monthly giving
A monthly gift continues until you stop it. You can change the amount or cancel at any time, with no explanation needed and no penalty. The quickest way is to use the link in the receipt Stripe emailed you, which opens your own billing page. You can also write to donations@strivehigh.org and we will cancel it for you. If a scheduled payment has already been taken when you cancel, tell us and we will refund it.
Refunds
We want every gift to be one you meant to make. If you gave by mistake, gave the wrong amount, or gave twice, write to donations@strivehigh.org and we will refund it. We ask that you contact us within 30 days of the gift, though we will always consider a request outside that window. Refunds go back to the card you used and normally take five to ten business days to appear.
Ticket and vendor fees for Pawsh Ever After follow the terms in the vendor packet and on the event page, which differ from this policy: those fees are generally not refundable unless the event is cancelled.
Restricted gifts
If you tell us your gift is for a particular program, such as Love Lives On or the Pet Mission, we will use it for that purpose. If that program is fully funded, ends, or cannot use the gift as intended, our board may direct the gift to the closest related purpose. We will let you know if that happens with a significant gift.
Gifts of goods and services
We welcome donated items and services. Please contact us before sending anything so we know it is coming and can confirm we can use it. We accept new items only, and unopened food that is within date. We will acknowledge in kind gifts in writing by describing what was received. We do not place a dollar value on donated goods or services. Setting a value for your own tax purposes is your responsibility, and larger gifts may require a qualified appraisal.
Gifts we cannot accept
We may decline a gift, and will do so if accepting it would cost more than it is worth, create a legal or financial burden, come with conditions we cannot meet, place a condition on who may take part in our programs, or conflict with our mission or our duty to the children we serve.
Donor privacy
We do not sell, rent, trade or share donor lists. Your information is used to process and acknowledge your gift, to keep required records, and to send you updates if you asked for them. Every email has a way to unsubscribe. We recognize donors publicly only with permission, and you may give anonymously at any time. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How gifts are used
Gifts support our programs for children and families, including Love Lives On and the Pet Mission, and the reasonable costs of running the organization and its events. As a nonprofit we file the returns required of us and will share our financial information with any donor who asks.
