A Strive High Academy Program

Love Lives On

Grief support, connection and hope for children who have lost a parent. Seen, supported, never alone.

Love Lives On. Healing hearts, honoring memories, building hope. No child grieves alone.
What It Is

A place where a child does not have to explain

Love Lives On provides a caring environment where children can connect with others who understand their journey, express their emotions and receive continued encouragement throughout the year.

In the weeks after a parent dies, a family is surrounded. Neighbors bring food. The phone does not stop. Then the world goes quiet, and the child is left holding something far too heavy for them. That quiet is where this program works.

Our goal is simple: remind every grieving child that they are seen, supported and never alone.

What The Program Offers

Connection, encouragement and things to look forward to

Events and resources are announced through the year. Families on our list hear about each one first.

Connection

Children who understand

Time with other children who have lost a parent, where nobody has to explain themselves or manage anyone else’s discomfort.

Expression

Room to say it

Age appropriate ways to put words, art or play to something a child may not be able to talk about directly yet.

All year

Continued encouragement

Grief does not end after a few weeks. Families stay connected to us long after the first months have passed.

Events

Gatherings and experiences

Community events and uplifting experiences across the year, including Pawsh Ever After, where our families are the guests of honor.

Resources

Practical support

Resources for grieving children and for the parents, grandparents and guardians raising them.

On request

Referral to counseling

We help families find licensed grief counselors and therapists in the Lowcountry when a child needs clinical care.

An honest note about what this is

Love Lives On is peer support and community care, not clinical therapy. We are not licensed counselors and we do not diagnose or treat. When a child needs professional care, we say so plainly and we help the family find it.

How To Join

Enrolling a child takes about ten minutes

Parents, guardians, grandparents, counselors, teachers, pastors and funeral directors can all reach out about a child. You do not need permission from anyone but the child’s guardian, and there is no cost to the family.

1

Email us the child’s name and how to reach the family

Write to loveliveson@strivehigh.org or use the contact form. Tell us what happened and who the guardian is.

2

We reach out to the family

A short, gentle conversation. We explain the program, answer questions and let the family decide with no pressure.

3

The family joins the list

They are the first to hear about every gathering, resource and event, and they always have a name and an address they can write to.

4

We stay

There is no graduation date. Families stay connected as long as it helps.
