The rules for using this website and taking part in our programs and events.
Agreement
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. Strive High Academy is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3), EIN 93-3248311, based in the Charleston area of South Carolina.
What this site is, and what it is not
This site describes our organization, our programs and our events. Nothing on it is professional advice.
Love Lives On is peer support and community care. It is not therapy, counseling or medical treatment, and we are not licensed clinicians. Nothing on this site diagnoses or treats any condition. If a child needs professional care we will say so and help the family find it. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any hour of any day.
Taking part in our programs
Sending us a referral or an application does not guarantee a place. We accept families based on fit, capacity and available funding, and we may decline or end participation where we believe that is right for the child, the family or the group. There is no cost to a family for our grief support programs.
Participation involving a child requires a parent or guardian to agree. Volunteers in roles working directly with children are subject to background checks.
The Pet Mission
Placing an animal with a family is at our discretion and depends on suitability for the child, the household and the animal. Amounts shown on this site describe what a placement typically costs us and are planning figures, not a price list or a promise of a specific level of support. Once an animal is placed, the family is its legal owner and is responsible for its care, licensing and behavior. Support we provide toward food, supplies or veterinary costs is a gift, not an ongoing contract, and depends on available funding.
Events, tickets and vendors
- Event dates, venues, capacity, activities and schedules may change. We will publish changes as plans are confirmed.
- Tickets are for personal use. Unless we say otherwise in writing, tickets may not be resold, and ticket fees are not refundable except where we cancel the event.
- Vendors and sponsors are also bound by the vendor registration packet and the sponsorship agreement for that event, which govern where those documents and these terms differ.
- Our events are dog friendly. Anyone bringing an animal is responsible for it at all times, must keep it leashed and under control, and is responsible for anything it does. Bring your animal at your own risk.
- Photography and video may be taken at our events for our own use. Tell a member of our team if you do not want to be photographed. We ask a parent or guardian separately before using a child’s name or image.
Donations
Gifts made through this site are governed by our Donation Policy.
Using the site properly
Do not use this site to break the law, to harass anyone, to submit false information, to attempt to gain access to systems or accounts, to interfere with the site, or to collect other people’s information. Do not submit anything about a child unless you are that child’s parent or guardian, or you are an adult making a referral with the guardian’s knowledge.
Our content
The text, layout, graphics and logos on this site belong to Strive High Academy or are used with permission. “Strive High Academy”, “Love Lives On” and “Pawsh Ever After: The Charleston Puppy Prom” are our names and marks. You may share and link to our pages. You may not copy our content for your own commercial use, or use our name or logo to suggest we endorse you, without our written permission.
Other websites and services
We link to other organizations and use outside services such as Stripe for payments. We do not control those sites and services and we are not responsible for them. Their terms apply once you use them.
No warranty
We provide this site as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free or complete, and we may change or remove any part of it at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Strive High Academy and its board, staff and volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this site, your attendance at our events, or your participation in our programs. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Dorchester or Charleston County, South Carolina.
